When the dragon spoke of the snacks that were going to be done in a little while, shi sniffed the air licked hir lips.
"Mmm, never had those before but they sound and smell delicious."
Hir mouth was watering for a good long while until shi started hearing the trio arguing as well.
Shi giggled softly and shook hir head.
"If it's not too much trouble. For some reason they have it in their head that they can do everything that I can... I don't think they realize I'm nothing but a ball of energy."
Shi chuckled as shi resumed looking down at them, hoping they don't fall. However, hir bodily stance and tense muscles clearly stated that shi would dive after them in a heart beat should they slip.

"Thanks. They should be ready in about five minutes or so. Heh, you definitely are a ball of energy and I don't think anyone else in the school could keep up with you even if they tried. But that hydra there's giving it their best shot apparently. I'll go get them before they slip up though, just to be sure." Drake laughed as he tossed the apron over onto his little kitchen counter and lept off the balcony, sweeping down and soon back up to the ledge much to the complaints of the hydra.

"We didn't need your help sir, but thanks anyway. Phew, that's quite a climb isn't it?"

"Yes well, that's why I usually suggest the Stairs. Or Wings. They're both better than climbing if you're not good at it. So what can I do for the two of you, er, four, um, what can I do for all of you?"

If there was one thing that shi absolutely tried not to show was the fact that shi had wing envy really bad still... Despite hir aggressive attempts at trying to hide it as best shi could. The way Drake dove off the balcony... needless to say shi was jealous.
Shi pushed everything to the back of hir mind as they soon came up over the edge, smiling as shi listened to them complain.
"Yes it is indeed a long climb. Given the circumstances you came a ways on your own."
Shi chuckled softly, tail swaying lazily behind hir as shi walked towards them and sat on the banner while they caught their balance once again.
When the headmaster asked what they were doing up here, Tanshin's ears fell back as shi tried thinking of a way to say it, but there really was no clear way of asking about it.
"Well, it kind of complicated... Has there... Has there ever been a record of someone regenerating wings after they were lost?"
Yeah... that could have been said a little better.

"Hmm... actually... yes I think there has been. It's not exactly something you'd see every day, but I think it has been done a few times. Let's see, there was a phoenix once that got it, and I think once a dragon... but I'd need to do research on how it happened and if it worked the way it was supposed to. Actually, Rose is probably the expert on that but I can find out. Why?"

"Well headmaster, it was an idle thought of ours that perhaps with a hydra blood sample, that we could sort of act like a healing catalyst to restore someone's lost wings. Especially if someone had natural healing abilities of their own. Think it might have a chance of working?"

Here it goes... the answering of the simple question why?
As if this wasn't awkward enough, Luke added in the fact of natural healing abilities which might end up pin-pointing the curiousity to hir. Sure it could be, but that did not necessarily mean it was hir. Unfortunately there wasn't a surplus of wingless dragons here at the school either... That and extensive research would have to be done on the Roc healing abilities and medical care and such. Unless it has changed within the last few months, little was known of how to treat a Roc when they were ill or badly injured. Only hir people knew the herbs and medicines to treat Roc bloods, and even then hir kind rarely ever grew ill unless it was strictly age catching up and it was time to let life go.
While the two conversed, Tanshin stayed nervously quiet. Hir muscles wanted to twitch but shi refused to let them. HIr tail swished back and forth in the same manner as shi felt, but willing it to keep a relaxed sway.

"Hmm, well it's an interesting concept. I'll talk to a few people and see what we can come up with. Definitely a good chance that it can be possible, I know Rose has a whole bunch of information on that sort of stuff. And... oh, hang on a sec, muffins and cookies are just about done." Drake smiled, walking over to the oven and pulling out the two trays. "Fresh and rather hot from the oven, give it a minute or two to cool before having any."

Really? The headmaster figured it was a possibility? Well that was good, it meant their climb was actually worth it. "Good to know. So how soon until you think you can give us an answer?"

Listening as they talked, Tanshin was growing even more nervous. Even if shi did get wings again, shi didn't know if shi would be able to fly again. The thought of hir feet leaving the ground after so long scared hir.
Suddenly hir head popped up and hir ears perked forward as shi heard him say the goodies were ready. Sniffing the air as the hybrid jumped down from the banner, shi smiled, following the headmaster.
"Those smell delicious. You seem to cook a lot headmaster."
Shi teased, averting hir eyes from the treats as shi looked around and wondered if they were going to come in or not.
"If it is possible to regenerate wings, how long would the process take on the person before the wings were ready to use?"

"It's always nice to have something for the students that visit, helps keep the atmosphere a little less formal and they don't stress out over every little thing. Besides, my sister is the best cook in the area according to her and she wants me to be able to make my own food, or at least snacks, so she doesn't have to come running up here every afternoon just to make me a meal or a treat. Promised the next time I dragged her up here for that I'd get thrown off the balcony into the fountain below with my wings tied up. Heh, anyway, I do have a decent answer for that question of yours. Well... mostly. The actual time for the wings to regenerate, I'm not sure, probably depends on the size and how well any treatment would take to the person. Once they're back to normal or whatever full size they end up being, with two months of intense physical therapy for them they'd be in proper working order without any escort or anything to keep the person from falling out of the sky randomly if they got too stressed or pulled something."

The hydra grabbed a cookie and each head let out a little yelp before Mavvy quickly shoved it in his mouth and gulped it down. Their fingers were noticably burnt but the mark started fading almost immediately. Drake was watching with interest, noting the speed of the recovery.

Tanshin listened to Drake with earnest, all the while eyeing the goodies as they were still steaming from the oven. When the hydra picked one up shi couldn't help but give a shight snicker and a smile as they quickly shoved it in their mouth.
"Well he did say they were still hot, sillies."
The hybrid shook hir head in amusement at them, watching the big red dragon watch them. This was so weird to be in company of others without them trying to hit on hir or maul hir in some fashion or another.
"Okay... Well... For example take a roc's body for example. On a rough estimate how long would it take. Of course, given the factor that the roc has a heightened sense of healing, though not as fast as a hydra..."
Half trailing off for fear of not making any sense, half stopping hirself before shi would be considered a blundering idiot and speaking in tongues. This was really weird..

"Hmm... average it around four months to have wings restored and regain the lost skill and muscle, that's a rough figure but it might be a little faster. Heh, might be a little quicker judging on how easily he's recovering from burning his fingers though. Now the trick will be getting both roc and hydra regenerative skills to work together instead of trying to fight one another, kind of like blood types not matching up sometimes. But it should be very possible." And the cookies were just about cool enough as Drake picked one up and gave it a try. "Mmm, came out perfectly. Still a little hot but help yourself, I have drinks too if you need one."

Tanshin nodded and smirked a litte bit. It would be neat to see that happen rather than feel it happen. The thought made hir want to shutter even physically.
Sure it was all talk and questions right now, but when the time came down to it shi was scared to think of what shi might end up doing.
Instead, shi said nothing as shi picked up a muffin, quickly droping it as it burned the palm of hir hand.
"Téma!!"
Shi cursed aloud as shi reached for a napkin this time to pick it up to blow on it. The hybrid was fluent in several languages, but shi tried not to use hir collection of tongues unless shi had to. This time was no exception.
"Sorry... didn't mean to curse..."

"It's quite alright, don't worry about it. Heh, besides it looks like those three didn't even understand what you said. Maybe next time I shouldn't light the oven with dragon fire, just use the regular oven on its own. Then maybe things would cool down faster. So, does anyone want to tell me why this whole thought came about or should I just guess and keep my guess to myself?" Even if he was probably right in his guess, asking about missing wings and regeneration and such, the question wouldn't have come up unless there was a personal aspect at stake. Which likely meant that Tanshin wanted to grow or regrow wings, he wasn't sure which, but that was a much better guess than the hydra wanting to fly.

Munching on a few cookies and a muffin, stuffing two out of the three faces, it left only Rod to talk. This could have been a bad thing for the hydra but thankfully he was remaining as tactful as he could up here in front of the headmaster. "Why not be curious about what our natural skills can do to help people? And if it's someone we know all the better but it doesn't have to be does it? Hydras are extremely rare from what we've been told and even if our blood can't help someone that way, it probably wouldn't hurt for you to have a few donations lying around would it?"

The hybrid smirked nervously at the headmaster when he said it was okay. But hir nervous reaction simply disappeared as shi watched them put away the cookies and muffins. And here shi was, still sheepishly holding onto a muffin that shi felt was too hot to eat just yet. A side thought made hir look back at the muffin shi was holding and smile with a quiet chuckle. Perhaps if shi had scales shi would be able to do things like they were able to do.
That smile quickly disappeared when the headmaster asked about the sudden interest. Tanshin tried remaining calm, trying to keep hir neck feathers down and hir ears at a modular level like shi had kept them at. He probably already knew what the real reason was behind this, but it really wasn't hir idea to grow wings again. This creature had them removed for a reason, it wasn't like shi was all too eager to learn how to fly all over again and look like a fool doing it.
Thankfully, Roderick spoke up in hir defense, so to speak, and try to keep suspicion off of hir. Shi was more than grateful for that.
"That's right, after fencing class, they were asking me all sorts of question of what their blood could do. I told me we would have to come here and ask you. Afterall, you seem pretty knowledgeable in many a thing, Headmaster."
Tanshin spoke smoothly with a smile, still holding the uneaten muffin.
Shi was still questioning the muffin complex.

((sorry been taking so long to post, been really busy with work))

"Oh that reminds me, Crimson said she'd be happy to take Friday off and come down to the fencing class that day to watch. And she'll pick a few students for a lesson after their first few matches, then if you're still interested she'll give you personal lessons. Heh, thanks for the vote of confidence in me by the way. I try to know as much as I can about my school and what's going on around here." And a few dozen other things but his favorite things to know about were around the school. Now when it came to matters of injuries he was usually one of the first to be called in, the infirmary here at the hospital wing of the school was decent but he had more experience than half of them and as an added bonus he was a universal donor. "You know stranger things have happened around here so I wouldn't be surprised if hydra blood could trigger the regrowth of lost wings."

The hybrid was busy looking over the muffin, debating to eat it or give it to the hydra. Shi wanted to try it, but all the same hir body was telling hir no. If it was full of sugar it may just as well be that shi didn't want it. It had not been proven yet, to date, but if shi were to have sugar some believed shi would be nothing but boundless energy for days on end without sleep. However, and luckily, the creature had yet to ingest sugar. It was not that shi had been forbidden to eat sugar but for the simple fact shi never really seemed to have sweet things, such as cookies or cake or any of the normal sweet.
When Crimson was mentioned, Tanshin's attention was immediately had with ears perked and white eyes upon the red dragon.
"Oooo, I'm definately not going to be late for that class... at least not this Friday."
Like shi ever felt the need to skip classes. Hir tail swayed back and forth in a wag-like way, but had a steady tick that a cat would do. Well if Drake wanted hir attention, he definately had it now. And the hydra had every right to snicker, laugh, or whatever they wanted. Shi couldn't help that Crimson had been a huge inspiration after the loss of hir wings.
Well... actually, shi could but Tanshin chose not to.
