The hybrid grimaced a little as they lightly traced the outline of the scars, looking forward so they wouldn't see hir facial expression.. hopefully. However, when a tender spot was touched, Tanshin's body visibly winced and shuttered to the pain it brought.
"I don't know honestly. I know I came to several days after the storm and by that time my wings were already half healed. Only problem was they were healing the wrong way. The doctors had told me that I could have them removed and learn to live without using them for flight but health issues in the future, be sent to a real hospital and have them rebroken to set them on the correct path to be healed or simply have them removed. At the time I couldn't stand the idea of being taken elsewhere, movement only caused me pain. Even moving my fingers it hurt."
Tanshin looked down to the ground as hir ears fell back.
"With little choice, I chose to have my wings removed. Six month later I was nearly back to full capacity but it wasn't the same. I had sulked for months after wishing I had my wings to fly, but the thought of flying also brought back the terrifying memory of being thrown into debris from that storm. After a while, I had began to take up fencing, trying to occupy my thoughts from flying. I had to learn to keep my feet on the ground instead of soaring."
The creature looked to the water for a moment as shi thought of something, trying to bring hirself down away from the reality shi may never fly again.
"I have back pain only when something hits my scars, usually paralyzing me anywhere from a few seconds to half an hour. I also muscles spasms on a regular basis from muscles I haven't used in years, so I couldn't say whether or not my flight muscles are still there."

"Sorry, I shouldn't be prying so much into your past. I was just curious is all, and thought if they left the muscles it could lead to back pain but, on the other hand, could possibly mean a vague chance some time down the line on getting wings back... but heck I'm only in my second semester worth of medical classes so I'm flat out guessing on that." But he wanted to know more, both in medicine and about Tanshin's situation. Maybe there was hope and maybe not, but with the scars looking like that and possibly having extra muscle that really didn't do much, there was probably room for improvement. And if they could offer it eventually then why not?

Tanshin's ears perked up quickly as shi started to put hir vest back on. Did he really just say that there was a chance that shi could possibly have wings again? Does he really think something like that could work?
The hybrid turned around quickly, barely keeping hir vest closed as shi did so.
"Do you really think it would be possible for something like that? I mean it seems a little farfetched, you know?"
Those white eyes were bright and opened as shi looked at them, almost oblivious to the fact hir vest was unbuttoned. It didn't matter right now. It wasn't cold out right now so hir fur would be able to cover up anything obvious to female. But still, it was as if shi didn't care at this point that all they would have to do is pull open hir vest to see whatever it they wanted.
Right now shi was just excited to hear something new.

"Maybe a little farfetched but since I'm not an expert yet I can't say either way. But I'd like to guess that if the muscles weren't removed, and they're still healthy, then there's a fair chance something could be done. I'm not an expert on wings but I think being a hydra I can qualify as a sort of expert at regeneration? So if we could find someone able to transfer that to a single targeted area like your scars, well you never know what might happen." Of course it was essentially offering to play "mad scientist" but the hydra was unaware that there was indeed a sort of mad scientist at the school. One that would gladly experiment with something like this privately, and there was a fair chance that sneaky snake was listening in through a camera or mike somewhere nearby.

The hybrid listened with interest and enthusiasm. If it was possible to get hir wings back, Tanshin would surely be the happiest creature on the planet. The only problem they would have would be to get hir to get off the ground once again. This creature had been grounded for so long and learned to live without flight, deep down shi longed for the freedom in the air but fear kept hir mind away from yearning too much.
Unlike others with wings, Tanshin never had others bullying hir, never had to worry about hir wings being broken over and over. Shi just damaged them to the point it would have been a hard life to live with them and not fly at all.
"Rocs are notorious for extreme healing, some even known for regeneration. I don't even know if my wings would have grown back if they had been cut off for the better."
The hybrid thought for a moment, looking between the three of them for a moment.
"I know hydras are known for regeneration, but you said you guys did not have that ability. Does that still mean the ability could be in your genetics by tweaking a chromosome here and there?"
Shi asked, leaning in a little closer as hir curiousity was starting to get the better of hir now. If there was some way, then Tanshin would be willing to try it. But then again..

"Oh we do but we don't. See, we can't exactly recover if say an arm gets ripped off or a head is severed. But stab, shoot, claw, or bite us and we regenerate pretty quick. Here, watch." Luke took control long enough to dig their claws into the opposite arm, a brief trickle of blood escaping before he slowly pulled the claws out. Little by little as they came back out the wounds closed up until his claws were completely out. "Little bit of blood, little painful, but other than that no evidence it ever happened."

"Luke, why did you have to dig our claws into the arm on my side? You know as well as any of us that the closest head gets the majority of feeling from any injury."

"I was getting a little bored, heh. Oh come on Rod you've done it to me plenty of times. Anyway let's focus on the possibility Mavvy's suggesting about an idea to help Tan get hir wings back."

"Now hold on a minute, I didn't say we could, I said it was a possibility, an idea. I can't promise anything other than trying to find out if it's a good idea or a bad one. And if it turns out to be a good idea, or at least not a terrible one, we can give it a try if you want."

Watching as Luke demonstrated how fow they healed, shi was amazed. Shi could heal a broken bone within a day and any deep skin wounds within an hour tops. Healing within seconds was not possible for hir. They were amazing in their own way, regardless of what others may have thought.
As shi listened to them bicker, the creature giggled. This was pretty entertaining in its own. Even if they had not shared the same body, they would all be fairly comical still.
"Hehe, you guys are funny when you bicker among yourselves. Almost makes me wish I had a sibling to bicker with myself. It sounds like a good idea, not going to lie. I'm willing to try whenever you feel ready to, or whenever you know more into if its possible. But even if it turns out to not work or if its not even possible, it was worth a shot. I'll still your friend regardless."
Tanshin smiled as shi sat back down and buttoned up hir vest before laying back on the grass.
"If it was possible, it sure would surprise everyone back home. I don't think my clan would approve of mingling in science blood."
Tanshin spoke with a chuckle, humored at how the village would react if shi were to show up after shi had hir wings back. Tan did know that this hydra and everyone at the school would be amazed at how large hir wings would be. Heck, some would even be intimidated by them. Hir wings had been nearly twice as big as shi was, a wing span of nearly fifty foot. The hybrid could still remember everyone being jealous of those wings... then again those wings were the reason why shi was the second fastest flyer in the village, the elder was only half Roc but clearly had taken after it with a wingspan of nearly senventy foot.

"Heh, glad we amuse you as much as we sometimes amuse ourselves. Maybe we'll get back to the school and ask around, see if anyone might know more about this kind of stuff. Only person I can think of is the headmaster, but that's just because he knew both our mom and dad. He's bound to have some experience with exactly what a hydra is capable of, and some experience with medicine I've heard."

"Well if they don't approve we certainly will. And it'll just be their loss, their surprise, if it works out. Heh, let's just hope if it does work you don't end up with dragon wings or something like that." Rod was joking but there was the very real possibility. If hydra blood was going to be used to spur the regeneration of hir wings they could end up with a hydra trait, like scales, leaving them more like dragon wings than Roc wings.

Tanshin would have been happy either way. If shi could get wings again it would make hir even more excited. This news was exciting enough to ebb the fear, but not nearly enough to make it vanish completely.
"If he doesn't then I'm sure he would know someone who would be willing to test the experiment in a different light. Gosh this is making me feel all kinds of energized."
Shi giggled, sitting up as hir tail flipped from side to side.
It was exciting and thrilling, however if it were to happen like shi was thinking it was going to happen, the creature would end up having to drink some of their blood or having it directly ingested to hir own blood. Whatever would happen after that would be a mad dash to keep everything quiet for a while. Would shi become ill during the process or would shi end up feeling fine during the entire thing.
"I had heard a rumor that one student had drank some dragon blood and it ended up altering his appearance slightly and wings had become stronger. But he already had wings... hmm.."
Shi wondered if there had to be a surgery to have the wings reset and have the blood infused just to encourage the healing and stimulate recirculation of bloodflow.

"I heard the same rumor, but it's got to just be a rumor right? I mean, first of all who would be able to get some dragon blood to drink without the dragon's permission? And who would really want to drink blood like that? Well anyway, I'm sure the headmaster will be able to help or give us some ideas."

Rod was just loving this idea though, it would mean they'd be that much closer, that much more personal and special to each other, which meant eventually his chances were that much better at getting, well, yeah. "No matter what happens I definitely support you.

Thinking, shi shrugged mentally and gave a nod as shi listened. And the look on Rod's face, whether he knew it or not, plainly stated he was liking the idea... if he was even thinking of what Mavvy and Tan were talking about right now. In all honesty it was both fascinating and exciting yet dangerous and fearful.
"I don't know if he had the dragon's persmission or not, but they say his appearance had altered a few days after taking it in. If the headmaster knows anything it'll be real interesting to find out what the results would be like."
Shi smirked as shi nudged them with hir shoulder.

The hydras smiled, moving to stand up and offer hir a hand. "Well we won't find out standing around here all day now will we? So shall we get back to the school, the walk should dry us off, and go see the headmaster about some of these rumors and possibilities? Never hurts to ask right, and he supposedly loves to help out. Heh, maybe he'll have to be jealous of your wings eventually." Of course Luke wasn't quite as certain all of this was a good idea. Not a bad idea, but not something to be rushed into either. Shi mentioned it might mean losing the approval of her people, that wasn't to be taken lightly. And if it all failed then this was just getting hopes up for nothing.

Shi watched as they stood up offered hir a hand, taking with little thought. As shi stood, it was hard not to notice exactly how broadly built they were. It really would be like trying to tackle the side of a barn if shi were to try that.. Luckily shi was just slightly shorter than they were. Not that shi would try to tackle them.... or would shi?
"Like I said, its always worth a shot to check it out. If it doesn't work out then its fine. I mean I've learned to be this long without wings and its not like it wouldn't hurt me to live the rest of my life without them. Besides, I'm starting to like the idea of finding new things to do on the ground."
Okay, maybe the last part was a little flirtatious.. Okay a lot but it was meant more the other way instead but oh well. Shi said what shi said and it didn't matter now that it was out.
Starting to walk back towards the school, shi walked away casually, glancing back to see if they were coming.
"You guys coming or am I going to have to push you back into the water?"
The creature gave a mischievous grin as shi spoke.

"Heh, we're coming." Rod smiled, as they followed he had a few thoughts running through his head but they were probably bad ideas. Still one managed to get past his lips before the others could clap their hands on his mouth. "Hey, if we're potentially going to be sharing blood basically can we share a kiss too?"

"ROD! Don't ask things like that. I've got a few questions of my own that I'm really wondering about but I don't voice them, because now's not the best time to be asking stupid questions. Right now let's just focus on going to the school and meeting the headmaster about all this."

Smirking as they started following, the hybrid walked without a care in the world. That is, until Rod asked for a kiss. Immediately Tan's face turned red and shi walked a little faster.
"Uh..."
Was all shi could manage out before Luke snapped at Rod. Maybe they would have all shared a kiss already if shi were any other female ready for service. But Tanshin was neither and shi really kept thinking it would be a while before a kiss would even begin to come in to play.
Tanshin wasn't exactly 'hands on' when it came to others but shi did have a hands on when it came to projects, especially experimenting in different styles of Fencing.
"Questions? What kind of questions do you have, Luke? You can ask me anything, not like I can get mad at you for simply asking what's on your mind... among other things.."
Shi glanced over hir shoulder at the hydra, the blush finally disappearing as shi did so.
