"I've heard of strange things but I haven't really seen much myself either. Still, some of the rumors are just so popular they must have had some sort of real history to them." Aubri saw something wasn't quite right, like Pension was sick or something. Then he warned about watching out for him, oh... the other side. Well if it really wanted trouble turning his back on it was probably a worse idea than just sitting there with his drink. At least he'd be able to see what's coming. Taking another long sip he gave a sort of half smile. "You're the other side huh?" He didn't need to antagonize the dark half, just let it know he was noticing the change. How dark was it though, the kind that killed for fun, beat people up, insulted, or the kind that liked more physical humiliation?

His dark half gave an evil smile as he listened to the griffin talk. Apparently, it took him a second to realize that he was no longer talking to his better half. He just quiet listened waiting for it to click. In addition, when it did he just smiled even darker. So this one was at least somewhat intelligent. That really did not matter to him though. If they were smart then that just meant that they would be harder to beat. Nevertheless, in the end they all could be beat in one way or another. What most creatures did not know about pen was the fact that he was just as smart as his other half. Maybe even smarter. Unlike his other half, though he had no compassion. All he wanted was for others to fear him. He saw that the griffin stayed put in his chair. Indeed that was a good idea for now. However, if his other half were to get angry with him that would be another matter entirely. He ran his claws across the table and smiled darkly at the boy. “Yeah how long did it take you to figure that one out? Of course I do not take you for being that smart of a creature in the first place.” He said. It would be better if the griffin could try to ignore the darker side comments. However, that would not be a very easy task to do. Pen was one who liked to hurt others in any way possible. His favorite one was physical. However, when he was not sure he could win a fight he chose to take the mental route instead.

Oh he could easily use a quick comeback to that but aggrivating a hostile personality was never a good idea. "Yeah, I might not be the smartest, but I figured you out in about ten seconds. So why did you come out now?" Good question. Aubri hoped it was for some less than serious reason, like maybe just wanting to say hi. The chances of that were pretty slim though, but it was a vague possibility. If it was here for trouble Aubri didn't want to have to fight, it'd involve hurting the good one too. Maybe his size would be enough to prevent a physical fight, and the fact that there was still a person over at the juice counter. Speaking of which, Aubri took a few more sips of his to finish it and smiled to Pen. This day might get interesting.

His dark half took a drink of his drink as he watched the other boy. Unlike his other half the cold drink did not bother him a lot. Pen smiled darkly at the boy still . He was half way expecting the kid to smart off at him. The fact that he did not ticked him off slightly. Looks like he was going to have to do more then that. He heard his lighter half speak to him now “ pen do not get us hurt .” he said mentally . Pen did not respond to what he said though. He had no intention of fighting the boy just yet. Unless the boy made him mad. “ oh is that what you think. Well let me just say that there is more to me then meets the eye. And as dose there have to be a reason I came out ? I mean maybe I am trying to be kind or maybe I want to kill you. Never can tell.” he said keeping his tone dark. The way he spoke was much like one would speak if they were about to revile some evil plot. He was more then aware of the guy who was at the juice center right now. Really though if he wanted to fight he would wait until the boy let his guard down first. He watched him finish his drink and smile. That just made him give the boy a dark glare and frown at him.

"Of course there's more to you than meets the eye, otherwise you'd just be the same as your other side. So which is it this time, wanting to be nice or wanting to kill? Not that it has to be either, I don't know you yet so for all I know you just want a different flavor juice. So do you have a reason?" Aubri was trying not to be too nice but to avoid being directly confrontational as well. Let the other one set the tone of the conversation, if he wanted to talk violence and pain fine. If he, and this would be a far cry from the truth most likely, wanted to talk about happy things that was fine too. Aubri started tapping a paw on the floor, still smiling slightly.

Pen gave the griffin a dark glare when he mentioned his other half. He did not want to talk about his other side at all. In his mind his other half was weak and useless. He was the stronger one and he was the smarter one after all. He now gave a board sigh as he listened to the griffin talk now. Well it looked like he was going to have to give him some reason as to why he was out. Really it was to cause trouble . That was the only reason he came out. He did not want his other half to make friends unless he approved of them first. He now rubbed his claws across the table making deep marks in the wood. Yeah he was getting mad now.“ alright now you are starting to get on my nerves kid. You want to know why I came out. Because I am not going to let my other half be friends with anyone unless they are worthy. And right now all you are is annoying. So to answer you first question now it is nether one. That is unless you keep pushing your luck with me. Then I am going to hurt you.” he said raising his voice slightly. It was obvious now that he was not stable. Pen was not the kind who would tell what he was planning. Until the last second. He saw the griffin tapping his paw now. Well that did not surprise him. Maybe he was afraid or something. But if that was the case then why was he smiling.

"Sounds to me almost as if you've already made up your mind that you want to hurt me. And if that's the case, well then, go ahead. I gotta say those are some really impressive claws, if you got those in me I'd be in a lot of pain pretty quick." Aubri was still tapping his paw on the ground, the smile still on his beak. The dark side was kind of cute in a way, a very menacing sort of way. He had been wondering how to keep Pen happy without getting Pension upset, or getting killed. It was hard to want to be nice to the bad side so he could be friends with the good one, but that's the way things are sometimes. He'd have to put up with it, or put it in its place, and he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Pen listened to the griffin as he spoke now. He could tell that the kid did not want to fight. Well there was some good news for the kid. He was not all about violence. What most would never know is that if they could keep him from getting angry he was some what nice. There were a few ways to keep him happy. He liked sports as long as he won. He also like fighting as long as he won. Though it was rather doubtful that he would ever tell the kid that. As far as the cute thing went no one ever called him that. They mostly called him a heartless monster. He did have a heart though. He just kept it locked away from others. In his mind they would only hurt him. And he would be dammed if anyone ever hurt them while he was around.

Indeed though it was very hard to keep both half happy due to the fact that they were complete opposites. Whatever one did just bugged the other. Even now his lighter half kept telling him to keep clam and not hurt himself or their new acquaintance. Yeah like pen would ever listen to his other half.

So far very few had been able to see that part though. He gave the boy a funny look when he said that his claws were impressive and could hurt him. He had never had a potential victim say that before. Oh well no matter fact was that the griffin was bigger then he was and he for some reason did not want to fight him physically. Meanly however was a much more pleasing choice. And so many comments could be said about the kid as well.” hehehe you are right I do want to hurt you. Just not in the since you are thinking. So chubs tell me why are you trying to give me ideas on how to hurt you? You want me to snap and attack you is that it ? Well that will not due as long as we are in here. You will never get me that easy. “ he said hissing slightly. As he spoke his claws dug deeper in to the table. Though he might seem to be impulsive he took time to think when he was face with this kind of victim . He did not want to just attack and end up losing.

"No, I'd rather not have to fight you. Because we'd both end up hurt, have a hell of a time trying to explain it, your other half'd be caught in the crossfire, and two or three weeks from now or whenever we bumped into one another again it'd all start over. So if there's going to be a fight I want it to resolve everything, like if you beat me and I'm not dead then any time we meet you get to boss me around any way you feel like. Or if I win something else in that same sort of reward. No rematches, no whining about cheating or unfair fights, just the one time. Any more and we'd probably kill each other, that is if we didn't the first time." And he was testing a bit of a theory. As long as the gryphon was sitting down he was hard to read, either as not a threat at all and the darker half didn't want to lash out at him, or as someone ready to jump up and counter anything. Who knows, maybe he didn't fight someone unless they were standing up or had their back turned to him.

Pen watched the griffin as he spoke now. It sounded to him like the kid wanted to tick him off . And he was doing a good job of it at the money. He glared slightly at the kid. He the gave a slight hiss as he listened to him talk. Well if the kid wanted to fight then he would have to make the first move. ”oh so you do not wish to fight. Yet you keep saying things that make me mad. And who says that I would have to explain anything. That is the glory of having another side. When something goes wrong just blame him. I do not care anything about him really. Sure it would bother me if something were to happen to him. But that would be because we would both be dead. Hehe one thing you do not understand. I never lose. Because I just kill those who try to beat me. So if you really want to fight me then stand up and show me what you got chubs. “ he said. No if they fought there would be no rematches. If the griffin won then he would more then likely leave for a while. Until he got angry again. Indeed if he wanted to fight someone he wanted them to give their best. It was always more of a challenge to him that way. Though in this case he was still not sure if he would be able to beat him or not.

"I hadn't planned on making you mad at all, though that seems to be one of your primary emotions, one you feel a lot from what I see. Didn't I just say a few minutes ago that I don't want to fight you? I would have started the fight already if that's what I wanted. So let's back things up a bit, shall we? Unless you really can't wait to try and get those talons into me, and if that's the case then might as well get it all over with." He'd figured out basically how he'd go about an encounter with Pen. If those claws got a chance they would rip him apart, he'd just slam into him and hope to restrain him, not damaging Pension too much if he was lucky.

Pen just gave a dark glare as he listened to the boy. He seemed to be kind of relaxing a little. What most did not know about him was the fact that he was not always upset. He could also be dark and almost kind. But he was constantly trying to protect his other half from getting hurt. One could say that this came from the fact that when he was younger his own parents chose to leave him and his other half on the streets to fend for themselves. This caused his other half a lot of stress so he started to devolve pen as a sort of defender person. It is just that now his other half can not control him. Of course now his other half was trying to plead with him to just stop and not get in to a fight. Of course the other half did not listen to well to him. “ you know what that is a good idea. Lets not get in to a fight. No lets do something just as fun and just as interesting. Lets play a gave of some sort. You win I leave. You lose then I stay. How does that sound ? “ he said with a slight smile. He had just thought of a way he could beat the kid. He would beat him a sport. Pen did not like them a whole lot because of having to follow rules. But in this case he could make an exception.

"Alright, a game it is. And your conditions are good. So what's the game?" Aubri had a feeling that was a trick. If Pen offered something there had to be a reason, something else he figured he could win at. There were lots of ways he could change the rules or define the game in his advantage, but the gryphon really didn't mind. It'd be an interesting challenge, and if he did lose well big deal, it wasn't like he was betting anything. "Heh, do I have to get up for the game?"

Pen actually smiled when he heard the boy say that he agreed with his idea and conditions. Of course he had no intentions of loosing to him. He heard his other half ask why he deiced to play a game instead of fighting. “The answer to that is simple I do not wish to fight something bigger then me little fool” he thought back to his other half. He then turned his attention back to the matter at hand. Now all he had to do was pick a game to play. Hum he could say a race but that would be too easy for him to win. Ahh he had it now. He would give the boy three options to choose from. That way if he lost he could not say it was because pen did not give him a fair game to play. There was one thing to note about pen no matter what he always made sure he would have the upper hand. “ That depends on what option you choose kid. Hehehe, okay chubbs I have it now. I am going to give you three options to choose from. You pick one and that shall be the game. So first option is a race, second option if swimming and your third option is arm wresting. So witch shall it be kid? “He asked. He had to smile when the kid asked if he would have to get up. Well that would all depend on what he chose. As he waited he finished the rest of his drink in one big sip. Of course that gave him and his other half a slight headache. Of well that is what he got for doing that.

Okay, that was an interesting selection of games. And two of the three required going somewhere else basically, the third... well it sure sounded like the easiest but then again... "Arm wrestling it is then. Simplest game to do at the moment, and quickest way to resolve the situation." And he really wouldn't have to get up this way, heh. The gryphon scooted his seat a little closer to the table, setting his arm up and ready for the contest. The only down side to this, well, Pen did have those nasty claws and even if he didn't intentionally do it they could scratch Aubri up while they were doing this. Enough pain and he would definitely lose, but hey, it was his choice to risk it.
