Aubri figured if he did win it'd be a really close one now, and if he lost at least he wanted it to be by only a few seconds. Prove he could get that third fish at least, save a little face for their contest. And it'd really suck considering he set all the rules and came up with the idea, Pen would enjoy throwing that in his face for a while. "Down to the last one. Good contest no matter who wins." He took a wild stab with his bad arm, missing one fish and barely scraping another. He tried to do a follow up and get that one but it swam out of reach, definitely not his lucky day right now.

Pen smiled as he waited for the next fish to come near him. He smiled when he heard the boy speak. Indeed it had been a good contest so far. Never the less if the boy were to loose pen would more then likely throw it in his face no matter how close it was. In his mind you were still a loser unless you actually won the contest. Even then pen still thought that most others around him were losers. It would make it all the better for pen to win when it was the boy who had chosen this contest. But at the moment it did not look like pen was going to win anytime soon. “ indeed it is.” pen said in response to the griffins statement.. He moved forward in the water looking for a target. He smiled when he spotted one at last. He looked at the fish watching its movements carefully . Then he quickly stabbed his stick in to the water. But yet again he had missed. Hum now that left it open for the griffin to win maybe.

With every passing second Aubri was expecting Pen to shout out his victory, but so far nothing. Not that the gryphon was exactly doing well. He tried for another fish and came up empty again, getting a little frustrated. There, his best chance, a nice big fish swimming by and going nice and slow. Aubri shot his hand down after it, laughing as he felt the fish trying to break his grip. Now all he had to do was get it over on the bank. Once he lifted it up out of the water though he was perhaps a little too eager to announce his victory and lost his grip. A little splash and the fish was swimming away as fast as it could from him. "Damn it I had that one."

Pen quietly watched the water as he moved forward. He did not like the thought of losing. However it did not see that the boy was doing any better. He gave a smile when he caught sight of another fish. Just when he was going to get it he heard the boy slash in the water again. Hum did he get a fish that time. He spared a second to look at him. Hum well he had a fish anyway. He forced himself not to laugh at the boy now. He found that it was very funny that the boy lost the fish. “ hum well better luck next time “ pen snorted returning his attention back to the water in front of him. Well bad news was that the fish was gone. No matter though he still had time to get another. With that thought in mind he proceeded to moved forward in the water. He smiled when he saw another target in front of him. He quickly stabbed his stick in to the water. He gave a dark smile when he found that he had hit his target. He looked at the boy and smiled knowing that he was the winner now.” this make three for me. But do not feel bad for you made a good challenge.” pen stated in a taunting tone. He then took the fish off of the stick and threw it by the other ones watching the boy for a reaction.

"Heh, would have won if that last one didn't get away from me. Congrats, close match but you got it. Now comes the better part of the contest, the rewards. Five fish should be an okay lunch for us, the question is do you like them cooked or raw?" This was where Aubri wondered if he might strike Pen as strange. Walking back to dry land and the two he caught the gryphon washed off a fish that was by now certainly dead, the smallest catch too. Giving a little smile he opened his beak and gulped the whole fish down without a second thought. Sometimes he ate the whole fish, other times he'd spend more time on them and clean it first. "Or would you prefer yours cooked a bit?"

Pen gave an evil looking glare to the boy now. He was not quiet sure why the boy would want to congratulate him now. So to say the least it was not the reaction that he was looking for. What pen did not tell the boy was the fact that he did not eat. He often wanted his other side to do it for him. Why you might ask ? Well pen found that eating was just another thing you did when you were weak. So with that thought in mind he smiled at the boy when he asked if he liked his food cooked or not. “ hehehe well thank you kid. Well to tell you the truth I do not eat. That is something that my other half dose.” he said with a slight frown. He gave the boy a funny look towards the boy when he swallowed the fish whole. He then walked over to the place where he had put his sunglasses . He would need them so that his other side would be able to see what he was doing.

That was strange, but he was sure there had to be some sort of reason behind it. Maybe he didn't have any sort of preference when it came to food and as long as he was still strong he didn't care. Or maybe Pension knew of some sort of allergy that Pen didn't? Not that it really mattered why, the gryphon just shrugged. "Alright. I'll beat you next time we have a contest whatever it might be Pen." Aubri's second fish was one he'd actually put effort into preparing. Gulping down one fish whole was fine by him, but he tried not to make it a habit especially in front of friends.

Pen kind of smiled to the boy when he said that he would beat him next time. Really he rather doubted it. But he would let the kid think what he wanted. That would put him off guard next time. Pen was slowly leaning how to act more like his other half. Until he got angry. Then he would rather just kill his foes. “ yeah right kid. I do not think that will happen. You see last time you had to hurt me to win. This time you did not get that option. And that was why you lost. So have fun being a loser like my other half here.” he said with a smile. Yes pen was back to being his nasty self again. He then allowed his other half to take control. The reason for that was the fact that pension knew more about what they liked were pen just did not really care.Pension gave a frown when his other half gave him control again. To him it looked like all pen wanted to do was win and leave. But maybe he was just trying to think of a reaction. Hum now here pension was trying to figure out what he was supposed to do with the fish that pen had caught. Really he had never cleaned fish. He preferred them already prepared. Oh well there was a first time for everything right. “hehehe well I guess pen did not care to prepare fish or soethin. “ pension said with a soft smile. He was still amazed at how well the boy was able to handle his other half. But then again his other side was acting oddly towards the boy. After all his first reaction was usually to attack first and talk latter. But then again the griffin was a formidable foe.

"Heh, well that's alright. I was going to offer to do all the cleaning and prep work really. Just kinda figured it might be something new to you as well, considering he'd never been fishing. And I doubt he would have completely zoned out if you'd done it before. Doesn't take too long really, especially since it's not like we caught anything huge. Still good though, worth the effort." And worth getting Pen to calm down and have a bit of fun. He knew it wasn't something the darker side would ever admit to but any sort of challenge he enjoyed and winning made it sweeter. Pen was the kind that had more fun when he won and the gryphon didn't mind it, Pension wasn't like that after all so there wasn't much to really get upset about. Shaking off a little extra water and throwing his shirt back on Aubri hoped to hide the scrape on his arm from being noticed.

Pension smiled to the boy now. Pension had never caught fish in his life much less cleaned then. He preferred to get them already ready from a store. That may have been due to the fact that he came from the city. His other half was always watching him no matter what he was doing. That way he would not try to do something against him. Pen was paranoid like pension thinking that others were always against him. But this boy was proving him wrong though. Pension now put his boots and shirt back on. He noted that his feathers were still wet but that did not bother him. His feather always took a very long time to dry. “ yeah. No we have never been fishing at all. Really he dose not ever zone out. He is to afraid of what I might do. I am sure they will be.” pension said with a smile. He did not know about the scrape on the boy arm. If he had he would have been concerned. Indeed his other half was a whole lot different then him. But that is what made them unlike right. At east that is what he thought.

Aubri smiled as he started working on taking care of the fish. "Definitely did a good job for the first time ever fishing. Guess that's kind of a good thing in a way, always have a second opinion and someone watching out for you right? Not that his opinion is always helpful to you I'm sure, can't be right all the time. Still, guess it's got some advantages. These fish should be ready in about five, maybe ten minutes by the way. So how did you feel about the challenge, considering you kind of won too right?" Would Pen let Pension have that slight victory or was he going to claim it all for himself?

Pension smiled at the boys complement . Pen though evil was a very fierce competitor. On top of that he was also a good learner when he put his mind to it. It Was just that he did not think that he had learn about many things. He had to give the boy a funny look when he said that it was a good thing to have pen around. If there was one thing to be said about his new friend it was the fact that he was an odd one. But odd was good for the most part. “ yeah I guess he did. Well it is unless you want to keep something a secret . He is only helpful if I wish to insult someone.” he said. Pen had to laugh at the boy now. He found it funny that the boy wanted to know how his lighter half felt about beating him. Pension just tried to ignore his other side while he finished his statement. “ okay I anit in no hurry. Uhh well to tell you the truth beating you is not as fun as hanging out with you. .: he said with a smile. His other half did not mind if pension joined him in his victory, but pension was just plainly to modest to say much about it.

"Thanks. It's great getting to hang out with you too. Heh, bet he has fun trying to get you to insult people, especially me. It's alright if he does though, I don't mind." Aubri got the fish cleaned and set a little camp fire. Putting a few sticks up and spearing each fish he set them over the flames to cook, thankful for his knowledge of wilderness survival. He could go more rugged and just eat them raw but Aubri had a feeling Pen would prefer a nice seared fish to a raw one. And it was nice to know that he was more modest about a victory than his other half.

Pension gave a smile as he listened to the boy. He was kind of impressed at how skilled he was at cleaning the fish. He knew that he would not have been much help with that that. Call him feminine but he kind of found it nasty. But he did not mention that to the boy. After all he was experienced on this kind of thing. “ you is welcome. He dose like to try and make me insult others. Right now he focusing on you but he pretty much dose it to anyone around him.” he said with a smile. He watched the boy as he prepared the fish so that he could cook them. He actually found it interesting that the boy would know how cook fish like that. He did prefer them cooked as opposed to having them raw though. But that just came from the fact that he did not like the idea of raw fish.

Aubri laughed as he kept working on the fish. "Guess it's good to know he doesn't want to pick only on me." And there were a few good reasons, which the gryphon openly admitted whenever someone tried to call him on the character flaws. He wasn't in the best shape, he wasn't the strongest in flight, his claws could definitely be sharper and he could take a little better care of his appearance. None of these things really bothered him and the way he saw it if he focused on improving one area it'd only lead to a second getting worse. "Think they're just about done. How many would you like?"
