"That it is. Heh, guess there's a pretty strong feline part of you that loves taking those cat naps and using up boundless energy when you're more active and awake. On the positive side you can always hop down and knock on the balcony door if you need to see me or hang out in the headmaster's office before or after climbing up here. Wouldn't advise it at night time though, gets a lot harder to see where the loose spots are when you're going up and down." And sometimes he could have... erm... company in his room at night so not the best time to be jumping up on the roof or dropping by. "Hope all the classes are alright for you, don't need any schedule changes or anything? Heh, guess I should have done all the official stuff sooner but better late than never."

Tanshin chuckled softly. Shi took after hir feline side by choice rather than the rest of hir breeding.
"I'm actually a quarter Bay cat, a quarter Grizzly bear and half Roc. BUt I guess you could say I tend to lean more towards the feline side."
Shi smiled. Funny how, now that they were literally alone, he was asking about hir more.
"Don't worry, if I can't sleep at night I usually try to do something inside to keep me busy until I get tired. Most of the time I go down to the pool or practicing my fencing lessons when that happens. I usually try not to bother others when I know they might be sleeping."
Once again, as shi spoke, Tanshin's eyes had wandered out to look at the view, it really was beautiful to look at.
"Oh, yeah. My classes are great. So for I like Physics and Fencing the best. Not so great at Latin yet but I hope some day soon. Creative writing and ceramics are pretty fun too, help with my imagination a little."
It was alright shi supposed. Not like he could really catch hir up here without flying. Not that shi was worried. He was nice to talk to, regardless of being the headmaster. It certainly didn't feel like shi was talking to a headmaster, but rather an acquaintance.

"Good. Just so you know if you ever have any problems or need help with anything at all you can come and let me know. Even if you think it's something not worth my attention, I'd like to hear it. Or if it's something major like a teacher picking on you, heh, in a bad way not an encouraging way of course. I know the Latin class can be a bit of a struggle for some, for others it's a breeze. Heheh, well if you don't wake anyone up that's great but if you do happen to make a little noise at night you're probably not the only one. Sometimes one of the art teachers can be up all night, and security's always wandering around. I swear my brother needs to get more sleep, it's like he's on an hour a day at best and still functions normally. Must be sneaking in a few naps when I'm not looking, heh."

Listening as shi stared off, Tanshin could almost pull a typical cat move and curl up somewhere in the sun and fall asleep. It was nice up here. The view, the height... the warmth of the sun..
Yeah, Tanshin could definately spend all day up here, even if it meant that shi'd sleep most of them away. When Drake mentioned security, hir head turned to him with a tilt.
"You should tell him. He may not realize he's doing it. Sometimes others do things out of habit for so long that even when something life changing happens they still don't change. I know habits can die hard, and its none of my business, but if you wait to tell him that he needs to take a break it could end up too late..."
Tanshin trailed off as it seemed shi was beginning to speak of things shi had no room to talk in. Thus, shi looked back out on the scenery before hir, growing quiet for the moment.
"Sorry, it's not my place to tell someone else what to do.."

"It's alright, you do make a good point. I'm the boss, I should be able to tell him to take a break and he should be able to listen. Better to have him on vacation for a couple days and need a replacement security person than to lose him for the rest of time if he gets too stressed out. I'll tell him tonight that he's got the day off tomorrow whether he likes it or not, heh. And if you see a big black dragon walking around the school tomorrow, and me with a black eye or bandages, you know he probably said no and forced me to change my mind. Then when he least expects it I'll have our head of security slip sedatives in his drink and forcibly send him on vacation." Maybe he was teasing a little too much for a new student to understand. Blake liked to try and prove he was the top dragon even if he had no money whatsoever put into the school or the town. Not that he ever seemed to care, he usually had fun around the school or he wouldn't have stayed.

Despite not knowing which black dragon Drake was talking about, Tanshin gave a soft giggle anyway. If anything, shi did recognize brotherly love when shi saw it. Tanshin knew it came in many different forms and ways, this was one of them as it was recognized from having lived with hir male cousins.
"Isn't there someone who is rather convincing to him that he needs time off? That way he should be able to take time off without much of a fight and and you don't get hurt. Besides, we don't need our Headmaster looking like a punching bag."
Tanshin chuckled fairly louder than shi had previously, unintentional as it was.
Hopefully shi wasn't pushing the boundary here by speaking hir mind. Drake did not seem to mind the whole deal, but shi needed to be careful of what shi said. Some did not like the idea of a student giving advice on things they should keep their nose out of.

"Heheh, well it doesn't show up too much through these thick scales but you've got a point. It's hard for me to go to the couple people that might actually be able to persuade him without any trouble though. Heh, one's my little sister and one's kind of in another country right now." Actually he wasn't entirely certain where Blake's girl was, or for that matter who exactly his girl was right now. There were the kids after all, and he knew who they were from. Blake had been getting ready to get married at one point, and Drake really wasn't sure where she was now. He kept pretty good track of things lately but not some of the older gossip.

"Wow, he has a girl all the way in another country? Hmm.."
Tanshin was quiet for several minutes as shi thought about a way to help get Drake's brother on vacation for a bit. There was brute force, lying, drugging, the usual methods...but what if..
"I got it!"
Tanshin bounced up and faced Drake, fluffy tail swishing side to side excitedly.
"What if you tell him he needs to go spend a week or so with his girl? That way he'd be able to relax, enjoy sometime off and you can have a fresh fulltime security guard on the premises."
Tanshin was so excited shi nearly bounced off hir balance. Though shi calmed slightly, shi still bounced up and down. Good thing hir vest was buttoned otherwise Drake would be staring at something more than what he bargained for. Tan had a good feeling that there were not that many like hir if any at all. Oh this was getting exciting. So far so good, now just to keep enough excitement down that shi doesn't literally get excited. That could end badly.

"Heheh, you know Tanshin I'm really liking the way you think. Send him out on vacation, that'll do the trick. The only trick will be getting someone good enough for security that he'll actually volunteer to go right away. Wouldn't happen to have a bright idea on that one would you?" He was smiling, glad to see Tanshin so excited and happy. And the new student was being a pretty big help, somehow having better insight on Blake than he did after years of knowing his brother. Well... maybe their friendly rivalry got in the way a little and he missed the obvious things. He could take care of the whole school, he could see all the subtle little things going on lately, but the ones that should be staring him in the face he looked right past.

"Oh its nothing really, I just put two and two together of what you have told me about him so far. He has a woman but doesn't get to see hir, he doesn't want to stop going because he thinks no one can replace him. Not too hard.. eh.. Sorry.."
Tan found hirself talking too much again and blushed slightly as shi looked away.
Boy, this was one weird day.. and with a gorgeous dragon on top of that.
Now that shi though about it, wasn't there someone who could cover that with no problem at all?
"Now that I think about it, I don't know her name though, what about that red feline mix? You know, the one with the white mohawk, she could probably pull off your brother's duties with no trouble at all. I've seen her a few times around the school with four little ones but I don't see why she couldn't do his job with no trouble. Afterall, four little ones are a handful."

Hmmm, Rynn might just be the perfect fit for the job actually. She was almost as busy as Blake sometimes and other times she was just looking for something to do or a way out of the school for a bit. "Hmm, oh yeah, Rynn. She might be able to handle it if I can convince her. Hehe, at this rate I might have to hire you as a personal consultant or something with all these good ideas. Can't wait to see what insight you might have when you've been around the school a little longer, and around everyone here." Drake smiled, sitting down on the roof and adjusting his tail so it wouldn't be in the way or trip Tanshin. One of the best parts about being up here, unless someone specifically wanted to look up to the loft it'd be a pretty tough angle for them to see anyone up here. But on the other side of things it was really easy to look down and observe the school grounds or the surrounding area, long as you didn't lose your balance.

Tanshin blushed and quickly turned away at the compliment. Shi wouldn't be much help beyond this small conversation they were having. Tan was helpful but not as helpful as shi was right now.
"Is that her name? Rynn? That's an unusual name. Strong sounding for a female too."
When the feeling of the blush went away Tan turned back around.
"I don't know how much help I'd be passed small conversations like this one we're having, but I like to help when I can."
Shi smiled, scooting over to allow him more room to sit down. This was definately a weird day.

"Well the more small conversations, and a few big ones, the more we'll find out if you do help out more. No pressure or anything, heheh. But is there anything I might be able to help you with? That's supposed to be my job after all, heh." The headmaster smiled and stared out over his school. New students were always interesting but Tanshin was proving to be exceptional. Good at giving advice, enjoying classes and the grounds, not much more he could ask for. Definitely a welcome change from some of the trouble students he got as part of his "reformation" projects. Now that he was thinking of it, he hadn't had any of those come in lately. Either other schools were actually starting to get better or he needed to remind them and the frustrated parents out there that they had options.
