Didn't sound too hard. Actually sounded more fun than anything really. Except for the trouble. Shi probably could not pull off being serious enough to make sure problems don't happen again. Then again, Tanshin had little clue of what Drake really meant by trouble.
"Well, friends always make everything better. When your spirits are high they laugh with you, when your down they make you laugh again... When you need help they are usually there to help. It's always better to have friends around that you can depend on without worry."
Shi smiled to hirself, watching the clouds go by. He seemed to have everything he could want in this place.
"Must be nice to have a view up there. I bet you could see everything from there huh? One thing I miss about home is that when you climbed to the tops of the trees we had, you could see for miles around. And the view of the ocean was amazing. You could watch it for hours, it was great."

"It is pretty nice. Would you like to come up and have a look? Get to see all the school grounds, on a clear day you can see right into town, all the hills and woods around us, it's really great. Even better if you climb up on top and look from there instead of the balcony. No view of an ocean sadly, but there's the lake, and a river and the falls off in the distance." Drake didn't mind, he'd be happy to give a lift up to the loft so Tan could enjoy the view. And why not, a new student deserved a chance to see the school and their surroundings as much as possible and in the best possible light. He'd be there, nothing could go wrong.

Fumbling to sit up on hir haunches, ears perked with a few pieces of grass in hir neck feathers, Tanshin stared. Excited yet inquisitive.
Did shi just hear the drake correctly? Did he really ask if shi wanted to go up to his loft for the view?
As he spoke about it, shi could just imagine it. But of course, shi had quite the imagination for one of hir species, yet almost seeming a little immature for hir age. Somehow shi could never truly get over being like that.
"Truly? I wouldn't want to be a bother to you.."
Shi wouldn't mind climbing the stairs or scaling the walls to look, but shi was unsure of the offer. Honestly it was kind of a scary thought to think that he would try to do something after being so nice. Surely he wouldn't be that way. Either way, shi'd have to be careful and not say anything or do anything stupid like break something by accident. Hir foolish tenacity of being a cat often caused trouble sadly.

"No bother at all. I'd be more than happy to let you up on the balcony or the roof. Least that way I'll be around in case you slip instead of if you climb the walls or anything like that. Besides I'm interested to hear what you think of it." Drake had been hoping for something to do earlier, and this was a good opportunity. For a new student Tanshin was probably already one of his favorites. That could be in part because she thought he was cool for having Crimson as a sister but he'd take any respect he could possibly get honestly. "I could fly you up there or if you want to take the stairs that's alright too. I'd just meet you up there." Good thing he kept his room relatively clean and ready for guests at all times.

The inquisitive look vanished fairly quick when Drake confirmed what he said.
"I'd love to go. I always enjoy getting to go to high places. It always makes me feel better when I start to feel down."
Those eyes of hirs really lit up as shi stood up, brushing the grass off of hir pants and flicking it out of hir feathers. With little effort, shi flicked the rest of the grass off hir back using hir tail.
When he spoke of flying hir up there, hir ears slowly went back. Tanshin wanted to feel the wind again, if only for a moment. Oh this was going to be awkward. Shi wanted to fly but shi also wanted to take the stairs... Oh to hell with it. For once Tanshin felt like taking a chance, and this chance was going to be for one last time.
"Well... If you don't mind giving me a lift up there..."
Shi timidly walked towards Headmaster Drake, looking up at him. Hopefully shi could conceal hir little secret without it being obvious that shi's trying to hide something.

"Sure thing. Everyone has a different way they prefer this though, some want to hang on my back, others want me to hold them, others ask for something else, so how would you like me to fly you up there? And should we stop at the balcony or head all the way up to the roof?" And if they did go to the roof it'd avoid him having to show off his room. Nothing wrong with it but some did find it strange to have the bed in there, and the kitchen, basically a living space in the school instead of somewhere off the grounds. And sometimes it sent the wrong message to students and visitors. The dragon hoped it wouldn't be a problem to fly though. Tanshin had the look of someone who used to love flying, and lost wings could be heartbreaking if you only got to ride someone else's wings.

This was going to be different. If shi held onto Drake's back, shi'd be found out in no time. If shi had him hold hir while shi still held onto his neck, hir vest might squish the wrong way and show something that shouldn't be known. But shi knew the best way to enjoy flight was from another's back.
"What would be the easiest for you? I don't want to make it hard on you. If you think the view is best from the roof we could go straight up there instead."
Hir main reason was to avoid being in another's room as much as possible. To hir, it was hard to understand how shi was supposed to feel because of the laws of hir people. Shi still abided by those laws instead of feeling what was natural to hir.
Another reason to skip the room, shi didn't want to impose on personal space. Besides, shi could always see his loft another time, perhaps if shi decided to stop in and chat between classes.

"Well probably easiest to carry on my back, and straight to the roof is fine. I can get us both up there in a minute. Just grab on, get a comfortable grip without choking me, and we'll go." Drake started stretching his wings and knelt down a little so his height wouldn't be a problem. Of course the dragon didn't know he was likely about to learn something new about Tanshin, but he was already getting a lot of information on hir today. Usually a new person tried to avoid the headmaster or gave him very little info until they were more comfortable in confiding with him, today was a pleasant surprise.

Well, Tanshin did ask him which would have been the easiest way for him. Lucky for hir, it was not cold outside at all. Otherwise... well.. Drake would have questioned it by now and have caused hir to run away in embaressment.
As he stretched his wings out and knelt for hir, Tanshin could feel a slight sting of remorse for hir own that were no longer and a bit of envy course through hir body. His wings were only slightly bigger than what hir own had been.
"Alright, how's this? Not too tight is it?"
Shi had climbed onto his back and tried to do so without too much of hir chest pushing on his back or hir elbows digging into his muscles. Hopefully the way shi was would not affect him too much.

"Nope, that's just fine. Make sure you're ready. Here we go." Drake didn't notice anything unusual yet, standing up and pumping his wings hard as he took a quick jump. In the air in a couple seconds and climbing rapidly he was glad to be a big dragon. Someone roughly his size might be difficult to carry but not someone only half as tall as he was. So pretty much every student at the school was safe for a ride, even other dragons. "How you doing back there?" So far he didn't feel any real shift in the weight so he was at least certain Tan was still holding on. Well that, and the hands around him. They were already up to his loft, another couple seconds and they'd be on the roof.

Lucky for Drake, Tanshin had hollow bones like most birds. Otherwise hir weight would have been double what shi was and he really would not have been able to carry hir. So that did help a little.
As he leapt into the air and began the accent, shi felt a rush of excitement as they rose. Hir grip loosened slightly around his neck as the creature looked out around hir, finding the view to be truly awesome.
"I'm great back here. The view is amazing, just like you said!"
Shi tried not to move as hir excitement began to build up. If only shi had hir own wings. Shi would have done flips and twirls in the air, dived and already be coming back up again to meet him on the roof. This was amazing. This is what shi was meant for, not being stuck upon the ground.
As they passed the loft, hir white eyes were glued to the scenary around hir. It was beautiful.
Truthfully, shi now wished shi had not made the decision to amputate hir wings.

"Glad to hear it. Hang on, going to be landing in a second here." Drake spread his wings out further and came down as gently as he could, trying to avoid damaging any of the tiles up here. Blake would complain if he had to come up and fix the roof, and it'd be Drake's problem with the ceiling in his room leaking until his brother felt like being nice so best to avoid the whole situation. "just be careful not to run around too much, it can be slippery toward the edges and don't want you taking a spill over the side. So what do you think from up here? Now that you can actually turn around and look wherever you please instead of having me block half the view, heh."

The oddball was all too eager to let go as they landed, nearly doing so as he barely touched base. As shi let go fully, gripping hir paws onto the roof tiles, Tanshin stood in awe at the scene before hir. It was like looking at one of hir antique paintings back home. Shi wanted to hug Drake for letting hir come up here and see this, but shi refrained from doing so.
"It's just... Wow.. It's almost too great to stick words on it."
Hir eyes were glued on it all, shi wasn't paying any attention to Drake at all now.
"It reminds me of one of my old old paintings back home that I had in my room. It looked almost exactly like this.."
Oh to hell with it! Shi took hir eyes away from the view and hugged Drake real quick and let go.
"Um.. sorry.. But, thank you for bringing me up here. I needed it."
Shi grinned, not too big, but just enough to show shi really did appreciate this.

"That's how I felt the first time I ever came up here. It was perfect, probably the biggest reason I chose the loft here to be my office and my room. Heh, no need to apologize." It was a little awkward getting that sudden hug but he didn't mind. Something about it seemed a little strange but he wasn't exactly paying attention, his focus was moreover on how great the view was and how much Tanshin was enjoying it all. "Any time you need to come up here for the view feel free. Heh, just if you manage to get up here on your own let me know so if I hear something running around on my roof I know it's you and not something else."

Lucky for Tanshin that shi could control hir energy levels at times. Otherwise shi'd probably be running around all along the tops here because of hir excitement. Among other things. A slight blush had crept up on hir cheeks, but vaguely noticeable at best.
Tanshin did not care though, it was great being up here, and so high. The perfect place to get away from everything or to even cat nap when there were no classes in the middle of the day.
"Heh, if I came up here on a regular basis it wouldn't be to run around but rather for cat naps. Besides, it a nice place to just sit and look at everything."
Of course there would be times that shi'd run around up here like a maniac but being up high usually meant shi was thinking or trying to find an extremly warm sunny place to nap.
Hir dorm room wasn't exactly sunny and warm except to sleep indoors at night.
Ever since Tanshin had arrived last month shi had rarely gone in hir room except to sleep. Even then shi was up and about, running to and fro within the castle and outside.. mostly outside than anything else. All of hir classes were in the morning and the rest of hir day was spent however shi wanted.
