"Sure, that's fine by me Pen. You can still attack something, or rather someone. If you don't mind the totally embarrassing feeling of me having to carry you back to the school if you lose. Your call really." Aubri hoped that was enough to keep Pen from lashing out right now. He was perfectly aware though that if he did attack, and if Aubri lost, he'd be stuck out here in pretty bad shape and nobody to help him. Probably nobody looking for him for a while either. And why did Pen keep going to the "stupid" insult against him? Oh well, all he could do was wait and see if Pen really wanted to start a fight.

Pen smiled at the boy as he spoke. He knew that the griffin would not hurt him to badly. If he did that would mean that he would have to hurt his other side as well. He slowly walked closer to the boy. He made sure that he did not look threaten just yet. Pen had learned how to be a master of deceit . He knew that if he did he almost always could keep his victims off guard. He stopped when he was only about a few inches away from the boy. He the gave him an evil grin as he spoke. “you think you can stop me. You are wrong. You see you got lucky and beat me last time. I am not going to let that happen again. So the only one that will have to be carried out of this forest would be you. You may have won one battle but as long as you hang around my other half you will never win my war against those like you.” he said letting to tone of his voice get darker as he spoke. The boy was only getting him more upset. You see pen gain his strength from getting mad. If the boy did lose to him his other side would not let pen leave him out here. Unless pen killed him. But that was not very likely. If things got bad his other half would try to make pen stop. If he could anyhow. Pen often made judgments about others before he even got to know them. That was why he was so quick to hate others before he knew them.

"I make no pretenses of trying to change you Pen. I know you are who you are, and Pension is who he is, and the two of you together make a very unique individual. I know you don't exactly have a mind for making friends, or for liking me. Fine, I'll take a friendly rival and a friend, but I don't want to end up fighting you every time we meet. If it comes down to that well, I'd hope sooner or later you got what you wanted aside from my death or not wanting to be friends anymore. So if it takes one win, two, twenty, or hundreds I'll be happy to fight you in little matches here and there. I'd be happier if we were on the same side instead of opposites." He had figured it was time for either a speech or something completely unexpected. And while he was mere inches away from Pen the gryphon wasn't in the mood to try and kiss him or anything. And throwing a sudden punch would prove the dark side right. So, speech it was, and he hoped it was enough.

Pen gave a funny look to the kid as he spoke. What was he trying to do talk him to death. Well no matter fact was that he was not in the mood to have the boy try to talk his way out of a fight. However he did see to relax a little. Very few of his victims ever said that they wanted to be his friend. Most just wanted him to go away completely . Now this kid was saying that he did not want him to change. He knew that was a lie. Nobody could understand pen that easy “ oh you do not want to change. Ha that is what they all say . Then when I let my guard they try to get my other half to take drugs or go threw therapy to rid himself of. Know what that is not gonna work. I will not be ignore that easy. That is the reason that I do not make friends all that easy. Because all you want to do is try to change us. Hehehehehehe like I said before I let you win last time that will not happen again. Hehehe is that your way of saying that you are just as weak and useless as my other half. I do not need friends. At least not anymore I don’t.” he said. He then just gave a dark hiss. He did not trust the boy at all. He had tried that with others all it got him was hurt. He would not let it happen again. If the boy had tried to kiss him pen would have probably slapped him or something. And punching him would not make him madder at him. Though his little speech had do that much.

"Well if that's how you feel than go ahead, take the first swing. I'm not about to start anything, but if you hit me I'll do my best to finish it. Just consider now might not be the best time if whatever was hanging around earlier decides to come back while we're fighting, might want to finish us both off." And there'd be plenty more times to fight anyway, as the gryphon had plans to hang out with Pension more often in the future. He just hoped that if Pen kept starting things he'd eventually learn and back off or else if the gryphon kept winning he'd be beating up his friend every time. Even if he lost a couple times Aubri wasn't about to stop seeing Pension though.

Pen smiled at the boy when he told him to take the first swing. He was starting to like the way that the boy thought, perhaps it was better to try to be him in other ways. Of course pen did not know how to do anything other then fight with other and keep them from bothering his other side. He was about to respond to the boy when his other half told him that he should try at least to be kind to the boy. He smiled at the boy now. That was a good thought. If he was kind to the boy then he would drop his guard. That was when pen could attack him.” that is a good point kid. Though I think that it would not be foolish enough to mess with me. “ he said. He seemed to relax though. Perhaps the boy was starting to get to him. He did not understand why the boy did not attack him. Maybe he was a coward . Pen smiled as he put his hand on the boys shoulder. “ your right then. You say you want to friend with my weaker half. Well from the look of it we may have to get along. So show me how. If you can convince me to behave then maybe I will leave you alone but if you fail I will make you pay. Sound good to you ? “ he said. It seemed that pens earlier mood had passed. He could be more then just a monster if he wanted to. Though his nice mood was not all that kind . He was in the mood for mind games today. And he did not risk losing this way. His mind was just as quick as his fist were. He had told his other side that he only wanted to talk. And right now he was testing him. If the boy tried something pen would know not to trust him.

"Sounds fine to me. So if I'm gonna make that work tell me what you like. We can go from there. Once I know what bugs you and what you actually enjoy it's easier for me to find out what we can do when we hang out, and that includes your other side." If he was going to play any of Pen's games he wanted a fair playing field instead of a guaranteed loss. The arm wrestling was fair, but he had a list of choices to make it that way. "We'll do pretty much anything you want to do, just name it." As long as it didn't involve say, kill the gryphon or beat the gryphon up and leave him lying in a ditch. Those had to be the exceptions, along with a couple other things, but generally if Pen made a suggestion Aubri was willing to listen and consider it.

Pen gave the boy a slight glare when he told him to tell him what he was like. He figure that the kid pretty well knew the answer to that. Never the less he would tell him just how he was. Of course whatever the kid asked him pen would be sure to ask him right back. Of course the boy would have to ask his other half what he liked when he was out. Pen knew but he was not going to answer for him. He was evil but he did not do things that he considered to be rude. “ well I can not answer for my other side kid. He has to do that. I mean we know almost everything about each other but that dose not mean we speak for one another. That would be just plain rude. Heh to answer for me though. I am a dark evil creature who likes to party cause trouble and fight. I also like other things though those can go unmentioned for the moment.” he said. After making his statement he gave an evil sound laugh. He could not tell anyone why he did so. It was sometimes he felt the urge to cackle madly. Perhaps those who called him crazy were right to an extent. Or maybe it was the fact that the boy was doing exactly what he wanted him to do. Pen did not like to let others get the best of him. But sometimes he did not have a choice. He now took his hand off of the griffin shoulder. It would be advised that the boy used caution when playing pens games. He tended to change the rules a lot so that he did not lose.

"Party huh? I think we can work with that. We'll head into town some time, I'll buy you a drink at a club. Sound good?" That was interesting, how Pen didn't want to speak for his other half because it would be rude. Even if he was a bit on the dark and evil side he still had manners. "So what would you like to do now? Aside from fight that is." At least that could always be the backup plan for hanging out with Pen, start things off with a good old fashioned fist fight or something before getting down to more friendly things. Hopefully Pension wouldn't complain about anything they did now, or about having drinks some time in a club.

Pen smiled when the boy said the they could go get a drink sometime. Did he really want to take pen out in public where he could hurt others. Well he would not mention that to him. He figured that the boy could learn how he was from experience. Generally if pen did choose to befriend some one it was to use them. In the boys case he was not going to fight him until he found a weakness. “ yes party. Yeah that sounds fine to me. I am not real big on crowds but I suppose I can deal.” he said with a slight frown. In the shadow of the trees he found it was rather hard to see with those glasses that his other half liked to were. He guessed he would were them to if he was nothing more then a weak coward. Yes pen was powerful and strong. He was the one who never let his other half forget that either. “ hum I do not know. How about you pick something. If I like it I will go along if not you can try again.” he said with a frown still. He was growing wary of the kid just by listing to him. After all talk was cheap actions spoke the loudest. “ by the way kid what is it that you like to do ? And what are you like on the inside huh? “ pen asked with a slight smile. He wanted it to look like he was interested in the kid. Truth be told though he could have cared less.

Aubri figured it would have to be something competetive to keep Pen's interest, but what could they do along those lines? Hmm... "You hungry or anything? Looks like there's a slightly bigger river up ahead, can find something to do there." He wasn't quite sure how Pen felt about hunting and fishing, or if he was the kind that if he did catch a fish he'd eat it right away or prefer it cooked. Aubri could go either way as long as it didn't have sharp scales but some found that kind of gross or disturbing... which was why it came to mind in Pen's company. "What am I like on the inside? Good question. Probably a slightly pessimistic optimist. I want to see good everywhere but frankly I don't expect it as much as I used to. And I like hanging out with friends, sometimes reading, sometimes hunting, and all sorts of things really. Just walking around is nice too."

Pen gave a sigh as he waited for the boy to respond. His lighter half was asking him to be kind and to try not to judge the boy. Of course he did not care to listen to his other half. Indeed pen was a completive to the point where he could make anything in to a competition of some sort. Sometimes that was a good thing though. Epically when that could keep him from getting in to a fight with another. Most of the time though it made it hard on both him and his other half. Not that pen really cared about that though. He looked at the boy when he asked if he was hungry he never really thought of rather he wanted to eat or not. Mostly because that was his other halves job. “ kind of why ? Yeah we could go there if you want to.” he said with a board tone. To tell the truth pen liked to kill things. That was why his other side had opted to move away from the city life. While it would really bother his other half. Pen seemed fascinated by it. That was just another reason why his other side thought that he was a sick creature. There were times when pension knew that if he did not hold his other half back that he would kill others. Just like he almost had countless times before. “ well you should know that the world is a dark place. If you do not learn to use that to your advantage the you will find that you will never get to the top.” he said with a slight snort. He always looked at the darker side of life. Maybe that was due to the fact that he was evil though.

"Figured we could do a little fishing there and make that into a meal. Could also make it into a little competition, depending on how hungry you are say, first to catch three fish wins?" It might be able to satisfy two of Pen's desires, a game he could possibly win at and catching the fish. Which meant if they were going to be food, he'd get a chance to kill something in a generally acceptable manner. "Guess that all depends on how strong the dark might be, and how bright the light. Slinking through the shadows works fine for some, but for others it's easier to walk out in the light. Me, I'll take them both when I have to. but I prefer the light... just maybe a cloudy day from time to time."

Pen smiled as he listened to the boy speak. He liked the idea of going fishing and competing with the boy that way. The only problem with that was that he had never been fishing before. But he supposed that he could learn by trial and error. You see pen was not the kind who told others when he had a problem. He just tried to stomp on it or just ignore it. “ humm that sound rather interesting. I think that that is an okay idea. Though I will probably beat you anyhow.” he said with an evil smile. He liked the idea of playing a game with the kid. Of course that meant if they were getting in the water it might be a bit cold right now. Not that it mattered to pen though. He looked at the kid when he answered his other statement now. He smiled as he got ready to respond. To pen there was no in between . Either you were a good creature or you were evil. “ well that is your opinion is it not.? I mean that you sound so much like my other half that it makes me sick. “ he said with a frown. He did not like all of the sentimental stuff that like had to offer. All he wanted to do was domatium and get on top. He would do whatever he had to get there.

"Guess I like to think of it being a between zone because it's harder for me to admit I can be either one side or the other. See, you've got it easy. You know how you feel, you're usually the darker side, and Pension's usually the lighter side. So the two of you are opposites, and one or the other's always in control. Don't have to come up with some middle ground when you're always at one end or the other. Anyway, fishing it is. We'll get to the river, see what's there, and depending on how many fish and how hungry you are we'll go from there." He wondered if Pen had ever done this before or if he was just bragging again. Maybe he'd gone fishing with a rod but the gryphon's own experience was the more direct method. If he wasn't trying to sink his talons into them he at least practiced spear fishing. He smiled as he started walking toward the river, hoping it'd be well stocked.
