Blake laughed softly and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "No worries there. As long as I'm there when she gets into any kind of trouble, or if trouble comes looking for her, she'll be safe. Trust me if I can take a tank shell I can probably handle a few thugs." No exaggeration that he did survive being directly hit by a tank shell, actually multiple times. A few of them the shell didn't explode though so it was really just being hit in the chest by a very large projectile. And the one time it did blow up he was knocked out and his clothes were disintigrated but he had survived.

Verdy certainly didn't see Ritzi as the "girl" or "wife" between them but he was the bigger guy honestly. So others might see it that way and he might not be aware of it. Besides he paid Ritzi plenty of compliments and it wasn't like he was stuck doing everything in their relationship.

Blake smiled. She had a little more unwrapping to do after that was done, some of the present he put in extra padding so it would be safe. Of course the first layer of the present was easy to see, some sculpting tools. The second layer was a finely wrapped up glass sculpture, made perfectly smooth, in the shape of a little dragon. He tried to get fancy, and tried to do a few others, but the glass dragon was really the best one. It was his least favorite form of sculpting or artwork since he had the most trouble actually doing it. "Hope you like it."

Now that presents were being opened the other kids started gathering around, Scarlet finishing up her serving duties and dancing over, Reth already there, and Jack and Dalia sneaking over from where they'd been talking to a couple older kids.
